#1 Fixing the Kde-desktop environment

Postby kakarot007 » Thu Mar 03, 2016 5:15 pm

So i was poking around with my linux and by mistake removed many qt4 packages. As most of you might know that KDE is heavely dependent on qt .

After the next boot i was only able to login and after that all i can see was black screen with a small mouse pointer on it .

I tried many google searches and implemented them but it was no use.

Lastly i got tired and thought to do something different . The biggest problem was no internet access in tty1 . So i thought to first resolve this issue .

I connected my laptop to wifi and shared the connection over ethernet to my desktop(linux) . Here is how to share it :

your@username ~: sudo nano /etc/default/interfaces

add these lines : ( you might have eth1 or eth2 )
# interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8)
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

save it and reboot .

Now i have internet access : which means most of the problems can be solved . :bump

~ > sudo apt-get install kde-full

It fixed my packages :( just in case i also runed : sudo apt-get install -f : to fix broken packages )

It was really tiring but now i finally have my desktop back . ( now i can work on exercises )
